Don’t let lockdown lead to shutdown

24 September, 2020

Residents across the Caerphilly county borough are being encouraged Shop Safe and Shop Local to help support local businesses during the ongoing lockdown period.

More and more businesses are reporting that the local coronavirus restrictions are having a negative impact on trade, with many business owners expressing serious concerns for the future.

Caerphilly county borough council is leading a campaign to get more people out onto the High Street to show their support for the local economy.

Deputy Leader of the Council, Cllr Sean Morgan said: “These are difficult times for us all, but our businesses are really starting to feel the pinch from the impact of the local lockdown.

I can understand why some people may be reluctant to visit our town centres at the moment, but businesses are keen to reassure everyone that the health of the community is paramount and all appropriate steps are being taken to keep shoppers safe.

Figures show that awareness of the current restrictions, along with compliance levels are very high across the county borough.

Our message is clear – please don’t let the lockdown lead to the shutdown of local businesses. If we do our bit to shop safe and shop local then we can really give the economy a much needed boost when it’s needed most.”
